Ihiala Rejects Ukachukwu, Others, Endorse Soludo For Second Term

RAYMOND OZOJI reports

Ihiala Local Government Area in Anambra State have unanimously rejected candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu and candidates of other political parties for the November 8th governorship election but collectively endorsed as well as ratified Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo for a second term in office, following monumental transformations across the entire state.

This unanimous endorsement of the incumbent governor was the climax of a stakeholders meeting held at Ihiala Local Government Headquarters, where the movers and shakers of Ihiala declared in unison that Governor Soludo will not lose a single vote in all the 20 wards of the council area irrespective of oppositions' malignancy.

The stakeholders who took turns to reiterate the governor's unwavering commitment to infrastructural cum human capital development, maintained that Ihiala is an eloquent testimony of the governor's resolve to change the narratives of the state.

The House of Representatives member representing Ihiala Federal Constituency at the National Assembly Rt. Hon. Dr. Paschal Arinzechukwu Agbodike who affirmed the endorsement, maintained that there's no vacancy in the Government House come November 8th this year and that Ihiala people will vote Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo massively.

Agbodike recalled that he led the governor's election campaign in Ihiala Local Government Area where the governor won landslide. He however assured the governor that such feat would be repeated in the council area as he believes that Ihiala is ready to deliver him again.

He therefore emphasized that there is no opposition in Ihiala because Ihiala is an APGA Local Government Area and the governor, according to him, is working exceedingly well to transform the state from a departure lounge to a destination point, adding that Ihiala is completely for Soludo and nothing else.

Ihiala Local Government Chairman Hon. Engr. Charles Anayochukwu Ojiakor in his speech noted that Soludo has tackled insecurity head-on in Ihiala. That the governor has also constructed roads and reticulated pipe borne water in the council area.

Engr. Ojiakor stated that apart from the governor's presence in Ihiala Local Government Area, he has equally constructed a new and befitting Government House, Governor's Lodge, magnificent Secretariat Complex in Awka, awarded over 800 kilometers of roads with over 430 kilometers completed and so on.

The Council Chairman noted that Professor Soludo is the only Anambra governor that provided access roads in Anambra-West and Awka-North Local Government Areas that were hitherto abandoned and forgotten by previous administrations.

Meanwhile the House Member representing Ihiala 1 state constituency and the Chief Whip of the 8th legislature Hon. Jude Ngobili while making few remarks maintained that Ihiala 1 constituency is fully in support of Soludo's second term reelection.

Ngobili who observed that Ihiala 1 constituency is now free from insecurity as people conducted burials and other ceremonies without panic, noted that Ihiala has resolved that Soludo will get a second term come November 8th this year.

A stakeholder in Ihiala and former member of the Anambra State House of Assembly Chief Simeon Ohajianya maintained that Soludo's administration has embarked on dualisation of major roads in the state, ongoing construction of flyover bridges, provision of functional pipe borne water and a host of other social amenities without borrowing a kobo from any bank or country.

Ohajianya therefore emphasized that it was as a result of the governor's sterling achievements in just two years in office that other political parties united and collectively endorsed him to continue in office for another four years.

Meanwhile the Chairman Ànambra State Local Government Service Commission and Convener of Solution Vanguard (SV)  Chief Barr. Vincent Ifeanyichukwu Ezeaka (Ogbuagu Ihiala), said the entire state has passed a vote of confidence on the governor Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo that he should continue in office and that his second term reelection is not negotiable come November 8th this year.

Ezeaka reiterated that the entire citizenry didn't endorse the governor for another term in office because he is a first rate professor of economics; that the governor's reelection was endorsed by the people because they confirmed that no governor has done what Soludo has done since the creation of Anambra State many decades ago.

Ogbuagu Ihiala therefore emphasized that anyone who is in doubt should ply Okija-Nnewi road to see the ongoing dualisation of the road coupled with the ongoing reconstruction of the collapsed Ulasi Okija bridge.

He however advised the people not to be deceived by emissaries of rifts who claimed that the governor has forgotten Ihiala Local Government Area as what they are witnessing at the moment is just an icen on the cake because the governor, according to him, is coming up with a bigger surprise for Ihiala people.

On his part, the Chairman of Ohaneze-Ndigbo in Ihiala Local Government Area and President-General of Mbosi community Pastor Innocent Azuka Okoli, noted that although Ohaneze-Ndigbo is non-partisan but because of Governor Soludo's transformative governance in the state which he said compelled the Minister of Works David Umahi to endorse his reelection publicly despite being a heavyweight of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), declared that the Ihiala chapter of Ohaneze-Ndigbo together with all the Presidents-General of Ihiala extraction have endorsed Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo for second term.

Hon. Mrs. Linda Ugochi Obi who spoke on behalf of the women PGs, affirmed that Soludo is a working governor. She recalled that before no gatherings of any sort could take place in Ihiala Local Government but because of the interventions of the governor, insecurity has become a thing of the past in the council area.

She opined that it is as a result of the governor's relentless efforts in transforming the state from obscurity to modernity that all the women PGs joined hands together and made a bold and declarative statement that Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo will return again on November 8th this year.

Furthermore, the president of the ASATU youth wing in Ihiala Local Government Area Comrade Okey Nnaka said Soludo's government incorporated youths into the scheme of things as clearly evident in the One Youth Two Skills Development Programme, employment of over 5000 teachers which involved the youths and a host of other youth empowerment schemes courtesy of the present administration.

He also noted that the dualisation of Trunk A roads across the entire state and all other meaningful efforts geared towards making Anambra State a choice destination have indeed shown that Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has content and capacity to deliver more democracy dividends to the citizenry.

Hence, the ASATU youth wing president maintained that Ihiala has endorsed and accepted Prof.Soludo as their governor come November 8th this year and according to him, no opposition can stop his reelection because he believes Soludo has no competitor.

The State Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Hon. Engr. Livy Obiaduo in his speech recalled that APGA unanimously endorsed Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo as her sole candidate for the November 8th governorship election on 5th April this year. He therefore stated that the endorsement meant that the entire Ihiala will rally round Soludo and ensure that he doesn't lose a single vote in the council area.

Similarly, the Chairman of All Support Groups in Ihiala Local Government Area and a stronghold of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Ichie Ifeanyi Ojiakor corroborated what other speakers said, stressing that Ihiala will play a very significant role in the reelection of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo because Ihiala, according to him, is a great beneficiary of Soludo's security intervention programmes.

Ihiala Local Government APGA chairman Hon. Chijioke Ben Akuamaka and the APGA vice chairman Anambra-South senatorial district Hon. Ikem Surplus Ewuzie, both lent credence to the fact that Ihiala has thrown her weight behind Governor Soludo and this time they will do everything possible to ensure that the governor swept the 326 political wards of the state.

They also noted that other political parties are endorsing the governor because of his administration's efforts to restore the lost glory of the state even as they added that Ihiala will not be left out because the governor must win all the 20 wards in the local government area.

Moreso, the traditional ruler of Ihiala, Oluoha the 17th and Clan Head of Ihiala Igwe Sir Thomas Obidiegwu together with his counterparts from Isseke, Azia and others offerred their royal blessings and approved Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo's endorsement, saying that the governor really deserves a second term and Ihiala will be part of that conquest come November 8th, 2025.
