As political activities intensify for the November 8th governorship election in Anambra State, the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has embarked on a 3-day special retreat and inauguration of the Solution Kindred Initiative (SKI) for local governments and ward tactical teams across the three senatorial zones of the state.
The 3-day special retreat which began on Tuesday with Anambra-Central senatorial district and held at Prof. Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre Awka had APGA local government chairmen, ward chairmen and secretaries, Local government Mayors and other principal officers of the party hierarchy in attendance.
Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra State, Chief Barr. Ifeatu Obi-Okoye told newsmen that the meeting was a strategic retreat for principal officers of the party who were christened management team.
Obi-Okoye stated that women leaders, youth leaders, chairmen, secretaries, councilors, Mayors, Deputy Mayors and other principal officers were invited from the Central senatorial zone to discuss the dynamics of preparing for an election.
He said it was important to train, retrain as well as bring the party together as one family for a better understanding of the operational ethics and operational modalities in an electioneering period.
He said that they are taking the party to the kindreds. That the kindred units of the party was launched on 6th April, 2024 and according to him, there are about 12,300 kindreds in Anambra State. He said that the party officers needed to know that the polling units get their votes from the kindreds.
The APGA state chairman emphasized that the voters do not come from voting areas but from the kindreds; that if the officers take charge of the kindred units then they have taken charge of the voting areas, adding that in the rural areas, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) develops its voting areas of voting units along the kindred units.
He therefore reiterated that the strategic zonal meetings preparing the ground for the party's victory in the forthcoming governorship election continues on Wednesday 30th April for the Anambra-South senatorial zone which will be held at Anaedo International Social Club Nnewi while the meeting ends on Thursday 1st May with Anambra-North senatorial district at Otuocha Township Stadium Anambra-East Local Government Area.
Meanwhile the Executive Chairman of Awka-North Local Government Area Hon. ThankGod Chibuike Anagor who attended the special retreat for APGA principal officers, noted that Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has been very magnanimous with Awka-North council area.
Anagor noted that Awka-North was a forgotten local government area but Soludo remembered it and made it a priority local government area. He said they have no other choice but to appreciate the governor with their votes come November 8th this year.
Also the Executive Mayor of Dunukofia Local Government Area Mr. Chijioke C. Ozumba, said that the take-home from the special retreat is to go and deliver the governor, stressing that there is no negotiation about it and there is no vacancy in Anambra State Government House.
The special retreat climaxed with the inauguration of the principal officers with a charge on them to return their respective wards and local government areas to begin the conquest for Soludo's second term reelection.
