Why Ohaneze-Ndigbo Bestowed Best President-General Award On John Metchie --- Udodeme

RAYMOND OZOJI reports

The Anambra State Chapter of the Ohaneze-Ndigbo World Wide says Amb. Dr. John Metchie is the best President-General on Community Development in Anambra State.

Giving reasons why John Metchie was carefully selected for the award after thorough scrutiny, state president of Ohaneze-Ndigbo World Wide in Anambra, Chief Obi Chukwuemekalum Udodeme, said after the award presentation during the organisation's end-of-the-year summit at King David Hotel Awka, that Ohaneze-Ndigbo with every sense of responsibility and service to Ndigbo, chose Amb. Dr. John Metchie because of his instrumentality in the development of Umueri community where he is the President-General of the town union.

Udodeme noted that of all the Presidents-General of the 181 communities in Anambra State, only Amb. Dr. John Metchie met the merit requirements for the award of the best performing as well as most outstanding PG in grassroots development hence the recognition accorded him.

Ohaneze-Ndigbo noted that Metchie single-handedly built a Barrack for joint security operations to tackle insecurity in Umueri community and Anambra at large. That Metchie has also installed street lights and other social amenities coupled with building a law faculty in Umueri community.

Udodeme therefore added that the many achievements of Amb. Dr. John Metchie earned him the prestigious award of the best performing President-General on community development.

Contributing to the eulogies showered on John Metchie, the national president of the Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU) Chief Barr. Titus Nnabuike Akpudo, who is also the Deputy State President of Ohaneze-Ndigbo in Anambra, said the achievements of Amb. Dr. John Metchie in his community and his contributions to ASATU has equally earned him the chieftaincy title known as ASATU Prime Minister, adding that John Metchie believes in the development of both concrete and human infrastructures.

Meanwhile John Metchie who was ably represented at the award presentation, assured all and sundry that the award will spur him to do more greater things for Umueri community and Anambra State at large.
