Gunmen Didn't Invade Ojoto -- Igwe Mbamalu

RAYMOND OZOJI reports

Contrary to false publications of tension escalating in Ojoto community Idemili-South Local Government Area of Anambra State, following an alleged invasion of gunmen targeting prominent individuals amidst an ongoing dispute over the community's traditional stool, the traditional ruler of Ojoto His Royal Highness Igwe Gerald Obunadike Mbamalu has categorically stated that such information were all lies from the pit of hell and should be completely disregarded by the general public.

Mbamalu who has set the records straight in an exclusive interview with HEADLINE NEWS, said there is no dispute whatsoever regarding the throne and that the Anambra State Government has duly recognized and certified him as the traditional ruler of Ojoto and ever since the town has been very peaceful under his reign.

Igwe Mbamalu maintained that no gunmen invaded Ojoto community and that the publications were figments of the imaginations of the sponsors who have vowed to always create wrong impressions of social unrest in Ojoto town.

He recalled that recently some disgruntled elements in the community tried in vain to disrupt the spiritual cleansing of the town done by recognized native doctors but his quick intervention saved the situation because the native doctors had his express permission to perform ritual cleansing of the entire town.

Igwe Mbamalu reemphasized that there was no iota of truth in the sponsored publications except for the fact that one Chief Dennis Adindu Okafor and his cronies have vowed to always create false impressions of Ojoto to the rest of the world. He stated that gunmen did not invade Ojoto and nobody resident in Ojoto has left the town for fear of gunmen.

He said one Ernest Nnoli an indigene of Ojoto who was kidnapped in his RAV4 SUV by some hoodlums bearing pump action was rescued by one Picolo a vigilante operative who trailed the criminals with his motorcycle to Oba-Nnewi road and raised alarm which drew the attention of Oba vigilantes and one of the gang members in a tricycle was caught and upon interrogations, he confessed that they were the ones who kidnapped Mr. Ernest Nnoli.

Igwe Mbamalu said the criminal suspect called his gang and told them that their business have crashed because he has been apprehended by security operatives at Oba.That thereafter, they abandoned their victim and his RAV4 at Akwa-Ukwu and fled while the one who was arrested was held in custody to aid arrest of his fleeing gang members even as he pointed out that the kidnap incident didn't happen in Ojoto.

The traditional ruler therefore stressed that the persona called Dennis Adindu Okafor and his dissident group are hellbent in sponsoring fictitious publications of crisis in Ojoto even when the community is peaceful and everyone going about their lawful businesses.

Corroborating what Igwe Mbamalu said, the President-General of Ojoto town union Barr. Ernest Obunadike said any person claiming that gunmen invaded Ojoto community should specify the exact location or village the gunmen invaded in Ojoto and not making random statements.

The PG noted that nothing of such ever happened in Ojoto and that the vigilantes are proactive in their response to emergency situations. He said some disgruntled elements were using fake news publications to discredit Ojoto to give the wrong impression that there is no peace in Ojoto community.

The PG disclosed that Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo was in Ojoto recently and he saw the peaceful nature of the community and her people, adding that there is absolutely no issue of gunmen invading Ojoto town.
