The leader of the Fulani community in Anambra state and National Deputy Director-General of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) Alhaji Gidado Siddiki has expressed deep concern that the government of Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo does not recognize the northern community in the state.
Siddiki who unleashed his lamentations and remonstrations during an exclusive interview with HEADLINE NEWS at the cattle market Amansea Awka, stated in very strong terms that the government of the day does not invite the northern community to her events and does not really care if they were part of the citizenry.
Siddiki stated that the northern community was not invited when Governor Soludo did his first, second and even third anniversary in office coupled with his inauguration ceremony upon assumption of duty as governor of the state.
He said that in spite of the lack of recognition for northerners in the state, that what they really wanted from the government is security and protection. Although Siddiki was cognisant that each time he called the Secretary to the State Government, the Commissioner for Police and Commander of the Army for emergencies, they responded swiftly but the sad reality, according to him, is that they are not included in the scheme of things.
On the endorsement of candidates, the leader of the Fulani community, said that the northern community has not endorsed any candidate yet for the November 8th governorship election.
He said that they are planning for a congress where the whole northerners in Anambra State will converge and take a unanimous decision on which candidate to endorse and support.
Although he observed that Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has done exceedingly well in the last three years as evident in massive road infrastructure, a new and befitting government house to mention just a few of his achievements in the last three years.
Siddiki stated that apart from the Amansea-Ebenebe road in Awka-North, Governor Soludo also took road construction to Nzam in Anambra-West; a local government area that has not seen a single tarred road since the creation of man, stressing that to be honest, Governor Soludo has really tried in his three years in office.
The MACBAN National Deputy Director-General therefore emphasized that irrespective of the fact that the northern community has not taken a stand yet to endorse anybody, he would personally advise that Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo should continue in office because he believes it is better to work with somebody you know than the one you don't know.
He made it very clear that the only problem the northern community has with Soludo's administration is that they are marginalized and not included in the scheme of things.
