The President-General Building Materials International Market Ogidi in Idemili-North Local Government Area of Anambra State, High Chief Jude Nwankwo has declared that a new Awka-South will emerge with Prince Chinedu Okafor as the elected council chairman.
Nwankwo who made the declarative statement while speaking exclusively with HEADLINE NEWS on Wednesday, maintained that Prince Chinedu Okafor's ability to transform Awka-South into a befitting council area is not in doubt as he believes that Okafor who is currently the TC chairman will not betray the trust and confidence reposed in him, if returned as the duly elected council boss.
Nwankwo who hails from Umuawulu, Obizi axis of Awka-South Local Government Area, described Prince Chinedu Okafor as the people's mandate, adding that the entire stakeholders of Awka-South endorsed and approved his candidacy. He said even though it is the turn of Okpuno to ascend the helm of affairs in the local government council, Prince Chinedu Okafor is more inclined to run a progressive, focus-driven and result-oriented local government council.
The business tycoon and importer of quality building materials, noted that although he is from Obizi but he is supporting the candidacy of Prince Chinedu Okafor who is from Okpuno. He also noted that the former TC Chairman did very well even as a TC Chairman and limited resources but believes that the incumbent will perform very well as chairman of Awka-South Local Government Area.
He therefore predicted that Prince Chinedu Okafor will win the chairmanship seat in Awka-South because Awka-South, according to him, is APGA.
Nwankwo however listed some of the most pressing needs of Obizi to include road networks, schools, hospitals, streetlights and security.
Although he expressed concern about the cult clashes in Awka town but he also took solace in the ability of Prince Chinedu Okafor to meet expectations of the people in tackling the menace as he looks forward to a brand new Awka-South Local Government Area under his watch.
