The Deputy Governorship candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) in the November 8th gubernatorial polls Dr. Elvis Obi has alleged that Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo wants to use Ihiala Local Government Area to rig the November 8th governorship election in the state.
Obi who made the allegations while fielding questions from journalists shortly after the gubernatorial candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) Ozo Jeff Nweke addressed Anambra citizens in Awka, said that the state government is intentionally paying deaf ears to the blight cast on Ihiala people by the persistent insecurity in the council area.
Obi who hails from Isseke in the Ebonesie zone of Ihiala Local Government Area, maintained that Isseke his hometown is nothing to write home about and that the entire area is completely in shambles.
He said Ihiala Local Government Area especially Isseke has been reduced to an area where the state government rigs elections. Obi emphasized that it is unthinkable that the present state government can not control the excesses of hoodlums unleashing terror and mayhem on Ihiala people.
Ozo Jeff Nweke's running mate said he believes very strongly that the state government has the capacity to end insecurity in Ihiala Local Government but is deliberately playing to the gallery leaving Ihiala people to continue gnashing their teeth in pains and agony.
Obi who reiterated that Ihiala Local Government has been reduced to an area for rigging, claimed that government deliberately allowed the atrocities to persist because they want to use Ihiala Local Government to rig the governorship election.
Obi noted that Ihiala has very large voting capacity with 20 political wards, stressing that if Ihiala and some other local governments are gotten, that the election is over. This Dr. Elvis Obi claimed the state government is planning to capitalize on the insecurity in the council area to thwart the election.
He therefore lamented that Ihiala people are being sacrificed on daily basis and nothing meaningful is happening there. That his country home Isseke is now a desert and that people are being killed every now and then.
According to him, youths have eloped from Isseke on account of insecurity and that most of the killings also happen in the community, adding that no place is safe in Ihiala Local Government Area.
Obi maintained that Mbosi, Azia, Osumoghu and other parts of Ihiala Local Government Area are not safe but the worst of the happenings, according to him, occur in Isseke his country home.
He repeatedly emphasized that the present state government is using Ihiala for election rigging which why they are paying deaf ears to the brutality and wanton destruction of lives and property in the council area.
