Over 3000 marketers at the Building Materials International Market Ogidi in Idemili-North Local Government Area of Anambra State have jointly signed an endorsement from shop to shop, head to head declaring without dissenting voices that Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo is their preferred candidate for the November 8th governorship electoral contest.
Disclosing this unanimous affirmation and endorsement for the governor to HEADLINE NEWS in his office on Friday, President-General of the market Chief Jude Nwankwo said traders in the market are great beneficiaries of the governor's Homeland Security Law because they now transact their businesses with ease devoid of incursions from miscreants.
Nwankwo said that the traders are happy with the governor for initiating the Homeland Security Law because their customers from all parts of the country and beyond have returned and their businesses have improved tremendously due to the safe environment and tranquil atmosphere in the state.
According to him, all the traders decided to support the governor because he has done a lot especially in the area of security. He said the traders do not know how the governor thought about the Homeland Security Law but they have described it as the best decision so far, noting that other Southeast governors are emulating the policy.
He observed that the new Homeland Security Law has put an end to get-rich-quick syndrome, fake traditional medicine practices, internet frauds, touting and also fought kidnappers, armed robbers and other criminal elements to standstill in the state.
He noted that in the realm of road infrastructure, their vehicles no longer breakdown or fall on the roads because there are good roads now across the state and their customers now come in, buy their goods and drive out of the state without any disturbances from touts and hoodlums.
The Building Materials International Market President-General equally observed that Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has revamped the health, agriculture, housing, education and other sectors of the state economy, stressing that they are dealers in building materials and they are getting patronage from the government and Ndi-Anambra in general.
Nwankwo stated that in the area of human capital development, the governor has done a lot using the 1Youth 2Skills development initiative to empower youths with economic skills and liberated them from abject penury, poverty, hunger and unemployment and also gave them grants to begin their own enterprises thereby encouraging the young ones to serve their masters very well.
The PG therefore reiterated that there is relative peace now in Anambra State and traders at Building Materials International Market Ogidi are indeed happy with the governor and therefore want him to continue in office because they know he will do more for the traders and Ndi-Anambra at large.
Nwankwo who is also the patron of all the markets in Anambra State, said there is peace and stability in the markets. That Ugwu-Nwasike road was terribly bad before the present state government came on board but Governor Soludo, according to him, has tarred the road thereby making it a lot easier for people to access the market.
He also observed that prior to the emergence of the present administration, from head bridge Onitsha to Amansea Awka was a complete eyesore coupled with the stench oozing out from the gutters due to heaps of feaces and wastes deposited in the drainages. But according to him, no such thing exists again in the state because the present state government is strict on operation clean and healthy Anambra.
He however pleaded with the governor to come to the aid of traders at Building Materials International Market Ogidi and help them construct a pedestrian bridge in front of the market on the Onitsha-Enugu federal highway to reduce incidences of hit and run as many lives have been lost through such sad occurrences.
The President-General emphasized that the bridge if constructed will connect the Bakery Market which he said is another big market in the area. That the road at the back of Building Materials International Market leading to Ogidi High Court also requires construction as the road in question is too capital intensive for them to handle through self-help.
