Soludo Has Surpassed Achievements Of Chris Ngige, Peter Obi, Obiano In Just 3 Years -- Lawmaker

RAYMOND OZOJI reports

The Chairman Ànambra State House of Assembly Committee on Education and member representing Aguata 1 state constituency in the current legislature Hon. Anayo Okpalaeke has stated that by way of comparative analysis that Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has surpassed the achievements of former governors Chris Ngige, Peter Obi and Willie Obiano in all sectors of the state economy in just three years of his administration.

Okpalaeke who made the observations during an exclusive session on Governor  Soludo's 3rd anniversary celebration with HEADLINE NEWS in his office at the state assembly complex Awka, said it certainly can not be overemphasized that Governor Soludo stands out as the first governor in the state to take infrastructural development to another level thereby making Anambra the centre of attraction in the country.

The lawmaker said that prior to the emergence of Soludo as governor, places like Awka-North had no tarred roads and were completely abandoned to their fate by his predecessors. He noted that Anambra-West was the only local government area in the country without an access road to the headquarters at Nzam. He said that the governor has addressed the perennial problems of the council areas with access roads into the hinterlands.

The lawmaker said Okpoko community in Ogbaru local government area was the highest and worst of slums in West Africa but Governor Soludo, he said, extended his magic wand to the slum and today, Okpoko community has metamorphosed into a new heaven with well-equipped general hospital, roads and other social amenities essential to life and living.

He said Fegge in Onitsha-South local government area was the worst place one could live due to all manner of environmental degradation but the Soludo administration, according to him, has transformed the area making it habitable and befitting for people to reside in.

The lawmaker was also of the opinion that Awka residents have unanimously endorsed Governor Soludo for a second term in office because of the transformations in the capital city. He said the people have collectively taken a stand that they would not vote for any other person in the forthcoming governorship election except Governor Soludo whom they have tested and trusted wholeheartedly.

According to Okpalaeke, Governor Soludo is building a very massive general hospital in Enugwu-Otu Aguleri Anambra-East Local Government Area and also constructing roads in the area. He said Enugwu-Otu Aguleri is the place that produces the highest votes for governors yet they lacked basic social amenities. Hence, Soludo broke the age long jinx by remembering them with the construction of a gigantic general hospital and roads for them.

The lawmaker who described Idemili-North and South as the headquarters of infrastructures, informed that the governor has equally addressed a deadly gully erosion around Ideani area. This intervention by the governor, he said, has made the people of Idemili-North and South to declare that no opposition will pool the wool over their eyes in the November 8th governorship election in the state.

Okpalaeke maintained that no opposition will come to Orumba-North and South to campaign because Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has invested heavily in the council areas in terms of roads, hospitals, primary healthcare centers and other amenities. He said Aguata is a no-go area because he believes it is the governor's home base.

The House of Assembly Committee Chairman on Education who noted that all the 21 Local Government Areas of Anambra State have felt the presence of the Soludo administration in their respective domains, observed that Anambra has never had it so good since it was created many years ago.

Although he stated that former governors Chris Ngige, Peter Obi and Willie Obiano did their bit, they can not be compared to Governor Soludo because his achievements in just three years are unprecedented.

He said granted that ex-governor Willie Obiano built the first ever airport in the state and the International Convention Centre (ICC), still Governor Soludo's performance in just three years is a bold confirmation that solution is here in Anambra State.
