RAYMOND OZOJI reports
The All Progressives Congress (APC), the People's Democratic Party (PDP), the Labour Party and other opposition political parties in Idemili-South Local Government Area of Anambra State have endorsed Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo and his Deputy Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim for a second term in office.
The endorsement which was unanimously made through a collective voice vote at an inter-party stakeholders engagement held at the Idemili-South council secretariat Ojoto on Friday to X-ray the governor's three years in office with emphasis on Idemili-South, had the oppositions testifying that the Solution Government has indeed met and surpassed their expectations.
They jointly made a bold and declarative statement that the duo of Soludo and Ibezim have no replacements as far as the November 8th governorship election in the state is concerned because they also believe very strongly that there is no vacancy in the Government House for now until the incumbent Governor and his Deputy completed their eight years in office.
Convener of the inter-party stakeholders engagement who also doubles as the Executive Mayor of Idemili-South Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Amaka Obi while addressing the stakeholders who listened with avid attentiveness reeled out the sterling achievements of the present administration across Ànambra State with a special focus on Idemili-South Local Government Area.
Obi who stressed that the stakeholders interface was not an APGA affair as attendees to the meeting cut across party lines, emphasized that the interactive session was convened to spotlight the extent to which the Soludo administration has proferred solutions to the abysmal infrastructural decays, deplorable roads, insecurity as well as general collapse of other sectors upon inception.
She said it was no longer politics that the Soludo administration has transformed Anambra State from a mere departure lounge to a destination choice in just three years in office with too many legacy projects to his credit.
Obi who traversed through some of the monumental projects of Governor Soludo, mentioned the new ultramodern smart Government House, Governor's Lodge, Secretariat and other ancillary buildings in the complex, road revolution with over 700 kilometers of roads awarded and over 400 kilometers completed, metamorphosis in education, health, youth empowerment, other sectors and most importantly, the return of watertight security in the state through the enactment of the Anambra State Homeland Security Law which heralded the coming of the Operation Udo Ga Achi and Agunechemba special intervention forces.
She therefore emphasized that irrespective of party affiliations, everyone could see that the governor has done exceedingly well in just three years even though his achievements were just a tip of the iceberg as she postulated that Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo still has more surprises for Ndi-Anambra which is why he and his Deputy deserve another term in office.
In Idemili-South Local Government Area, the Executive Mayor noted that the Solution Government has intervened in the rehabilitation of Mili John Ojoto/Afor-Oba market road, erosion control at Mili Obiana Nnobi, the total maintenance of Nnobi-Nkpor road, the ongoing construction of Nnokwa to Awkaetiti 3.2 kilometer road, the dualisation of Agulu to Nnewi road through Nnokwa and Nnobi respectively, renovation of health facilities in Idemili-South, amongst numerous others.
Meanwhile the state commissioner for Culture, Tourism and Entertainment Comrade Don Onyenji who hails from Akwa-Ukwu in Idemili-South talked about the Solution Fun City, the State Leisure and Entertainment Park and a host of other recreation cum relaxation centres coming in the state courtesy of the Soludo administration.
According to Onyenji, the entire Idemili-South is rooting for the Soludo/Ibezim reelection which he vehemently confirmed that it is already a done deal because Ndi-Idemili-South are pleased with the governor and his Deputy because of the transformations they have seen across the state.
Another stakeholder Hon. Chief Ikenna Iyiegbu (Ike Cubana) who hails from Oba in Idemili-South Local Government Area, said oppositions are non-existent in Idemili-South and as far as the November 8th governorship election is concerned, Soludo and his Deputy have no rivals.
He said that the Interparty stakeholders engagement revealed that even the opposition political parties have come to terms with Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo's transformational leadership model as evident in their unanimous endorsement of the governor and his Deputy for a second term in office.
One of the royal fathers at the Idemili-South stakeholders meeting, who is the traditional ruler of Ojoto kingdom His Royal Highness Igwe Gerald Obunadike Mbamalu, said although traditional rulers are supposed to be neutral and non-partisan in issues of politics but the truth of the matter is that Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo is one of their children and he is doing wonderfully well as governor of the state.
Mbamalu who emphasized that the facts on ground showed that the governor is working, maintained that he should be allowed to continue in office as believes that the reward for good work is more work thereby urging all and sundry to rally round the governor and his Deputy.
The meeting which was attended by the Permanent Secretary of the Anambra State Executive Council Dr. Nwabufo Nwankwo, who hails from Alor community in Idemili-South, APGA Chairman Idemili-South Hon. Anoliefo and a host of other high profile personalities including traditional rulers, Presidents-General, Women leaders, captains of industries as well as diverse political groups of Idemili-South extraction witnessed the epoch-making endorsement of the Soludo/Ibezim team for continuity.
The Deputy Governor Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim who was obviously overwhelmed by the oppositions' acceptance and endorsement, delightfully stated that it meant that the people of Idemili-South and indeed Ndi-Anambra see and appreciate the transformative efforts of the governor.
Ibezim who said that what Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has spent in three years is just 65% of what was spent in 2013, maintained that they will not relent in their efforts instead they will continue to justify the confidence reposed in them by the people of Idemili-South and the entire Anambra citizens.
He therefore expressed profound gratitude to the stakeholders of Idemili-South Local Government Area, noting that the Anambra African-Dubai-Taiwan destination has just begun.
