My Predecessor Never Had A Constituency Briefing With Orumba-North People -- Paul Obu

RAYMOND OZOJI reports

The state house member representing Orumba-North state constituency in the 8th legislature of Anambra State Mazi Paul Obu has stated that his predecessor never called for a constituency briefing during his tenure to render his account of stewardship to Orumba-North people.

Obu who spoke to HEADLINE NEWS exclusively in his office at the state assembly complex Awka on Tuesday while responding to his alleged distance from his constituents, maintained that such allegations were plots by his enemies to distract him from giving the people of Orumba-North quality representation because he has done what his predecessor didn't do in all his stay in the state assembly.

Obu told HEADLINE NEWS that he was not perturbed by unnecessary negative propaganda from his political opponents but interested in providing the dividends of democracy and quality representation to his constituents in Orumba-North.

The Minority Whip of the 8th assembly therefore emphasized that the allegation of his being distant and scarce from his constituents was a ploy by his antagonists to score cheap political points because he had a massive empowerment programme on 5th December 2024 where he empowered 90 youths with Point of Sale (POS) machines together with N50,000 seed capital for each beneficiary.

Obu who is also the Chairman House of Assembly Committee on Economic Planning, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Foreign Partners coupled with being the Deputy Chairman House of Assembly Committee on Health, said that he is planning another mega empowerment programme in the next three weeks where he would distribute tricycles to Orumba-North constituents to pull them out of hunger, unemployment and poverty, adding that it has not been up to three months he doled out POS machines and N50,000 grants to his constituents to start up small scale enterprises.

Obu said he didn't stop at just empowering his constituents with just lifelines but also went ahead to bring medical experts from the United States of America to a medical mission in Orumba-North and other parts of Anambra State which he said cost him about N20 Million to accomplish coupled with training for over 100 young doctors and nurses.

The astute legislator opined that irrespective of party affiliations, he represents the entire Orumba-North in the state assembly and that is core mandate is to give them the very best of  representation in his tenure.

The lawmaker said he is currently building a three bedroom edifice for the staff of Primary Healthcare Centre Ajali which according to him is now at the roofing stage, adding that he is not the talking type because he believes very strongly that actions speak louder than voice.
