RAYMOND OZOJI reports
It was a festival of songs of praise and renditions of Carol of 9 Lessons at the International Convention Centre Awka as the Anambra Broadcasting Service choral group and the Holy Family Village Youth Choir thrilled audience during the end of the year love feast organized by Youths Earnestly Support Soludo (YESS), one of the foremost support groups for Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo.
The YESS love feast which was the fifth edition in the series featured exchange of gift items and distribution of bags of rice to youths by the Convener and Special Adviser to Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo on Youth Empowerment Dr. Nelson Obinna Omenugha.
The YESS Convener who emphasized that the Christmas season is a season of love, encouraged people to always endeavour to give as giving attracts special blessings from God. He said that the love feast was an occasion to come together to thank God for a successful year and exchange gifts with those who attended the programme.
Although the YESS Convener observed that the outgoing year had its own peculiarities of hunger and hardships but rather than see the current economic hardships as a challenge, he believes that Nigerians especially Anambra youths should have the mindset of positivity towards life. That instead of counting losses, they should count their gains; if not for any other thing but for the fact that they were still alive till the end of the year.
Omenugha therefore emphasized that the love feast was also an occasion to thank God in a special way for the life of their principal and mentor Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo the Executive Governor of Anambra State and to amplify some of the things the governor has done from road infrastructure to the revolution in agriculture; to the transformations in the health sector, education as well as life-changing programmes for the youths of Anambra State.
He said Anambra has now become a construction site with a lot of developmental projects and programmes going simultaneously, adding that as the year ends, there was need for them to set a bigger plan for the incoming year if they really want it to be symbolic in their lives even as he assured the youths that YESS was ready to work with some of their ideas to achieve their greater objectives.
The YESS Carol of 9 Lessons which began in 2019 had the lawmaker representing Idemili-South state constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly Hon. Ebuka Igwe, the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Mazi Ejimofor Opara and some other very important personalities in attendance at her 5th edition.
