Ochabrigade Gets Recognition For Enforcing Environmental Cleanliness In Anambra

RAYMOND OZOJI reports

The Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra State (OCHABRIGADE) has received an award for enforcing environmental cleanliness in the state.

The award which was bestowed on the Managing Director of the organization Chief Celestine Anere by the Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU) was a testament to their commitment in ensuring a clean and healthy state devoid of all forms of social malaise.

The National President of ASATU Chief Barr. Titus Nnabuike Akpudo while presenting the award to the MD of Ochabrigade during the association's end-of-the-year get-together at the Government House Awka, took cognizance of the fact that Ochabrigade has indeed sanitized Anambra State especially in controlling the menace of street trading and other inhumane attitudes towards the environment.

Akpudo also praised the partnership and collaboration of Ochabrigade with ASATU in ensuring that the Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra mantra trickled down to the hinterlands so that communities would be cleansed from antisocial behaviours such as child labour and child trafficking, underaged prostitution and illicit sex, illicit drug peddling and consumptions, touting and other forms of environmental degradation.

Responding, Chief Celestine Anere said the award would spur Ochabrigade to redouble her efforts to ensure that Anambra State is clean and healthy devoid of all manner of environmental pollution.

Anere also stated that Ochabrigade would partner as well as collaborate with Presidents-General of the 179 communities in Anambra to ensure that villages and communities are not safe heavens for social deviants.
