Monday Sit-At-Home Must End In Dunukofia --- Mayor

The Mayor of Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State Hon. Barr. Chijioke Ozumba has declared that his regime will explore every means possible to end the compulsory Monday Stay-at-home in Dunukofia following attacks on security operatives at Ukpo last week Monday. 


Ozumba who condemned the gruesome attack and killing of vigilante operatives who were on patrol in the area last Monday to ensure that people went about their normal legitimate activities, told HEADLINE NEWS at the council secretariat that the vigilantes mistook the gunmen who attacked them for military personnel because they stormed the area on camouflage and shot at them sporadically. 


Ozumba who recounted the unfortunate incident during the visit of Soludo Support Group to his office, said they were leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the Monday Sit-At-Home ended in Dunukofia Local Government Area because the people must live their normal lives on Mondays. 

 

Although Ozumba disclosed that remedial actions have been taken as the vigilante operative who sustained bullet injuries in the gun battle have been operated upon successfully at the hospital. 


That one Joel Anusi who was killed during the gun duel would be buried Thursday this week. He said his 4 children have been awarded scholarships and that the family would continue to get more support from the local government authority. 


He said vehicles burnt and other things destroyed by the unidentified gunmen have been replaced by the local government authority, stressing that the hurdle of Monday stay-at-home in Dunukofia Local Government Area must be surmounted.
