Anambra State Chief Protocol Officer and Deputy Chief of Staff Chief Chinedu Nkemakonam Nwoye (Glamour) has advised opposition elements in the state to quit playing politics with human lives instead they should join forces with the present administration to secure the lives and property of Ndi-Anambra.
Nwoye who gave the admonition while speaking exclusively with HEADLINE NEWS on Tuesday, maintained that rather than vilify the governor; purporting that the state has failed under him following the catastrophic incident at Nibo community in Awka-South Local Government Area which claimed some lives, he said Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has invested so much and still investing a lot in the safety and security of Anambra citizens.
He said that the governor is saddened with the development and has equally vowed that the perpetrators of the Nibo killings won't go scot-free as they must meet their waterloo.
He therefore pointed out that the recent Nibo killings was not time to apportion blames or cast aspersions on the governor but a call to collective action against insecurity and all forms of criminalities in the state.
Nwoye who recalled that about eight local government areas in Anambra State were under siege when Prof. Soludo came on board, maintained that Anambra-South was a no-go area including Ogbaru Local Government in Anambra-North as all the affected council areas were submerged by insecurity even as he disclosed too that the governor was attacked and shot in his hometown Isuofia Aguata Local Government Area and three police men killed in the same attack.
Nwoye noted that rather than give-in, the governor deployed very proactive security strategies to confront the situation head-on and the local government areas held hostage by insurgents now enjoy relative peace and public order restored.
The governor's aide noted that the Nibo episode was one out of some ugly episodes in recent times as similar developments had occurred between Nawfia and Enugwu-Ukwu communities via boundary issues in Njikoka council area.
He said apart from equipping the Police, Army and other security agencies with security gadgets and equipment, the governor has also created local strike force to get communities involved in the protection of lives and property across the state even as he added that security is everybody's business.
According to Nwoye, Governor Soludo has taken security matters to the grassroots by mandating area commanders, traditional rulers, Presidents-General and other community leaders to always go round the communities for intelligence gathering and proactive actions against criminal elements.
He said it is so unfortunate that politicians have degenerated to the level of playing politics with human lives instead of collaborating with the government in power to address the situation.
He however admonished youths to be positive-minded even in the face of hardships and eschew all forms of criminal tendencies, saying that he overcame hardship as a student photographer in the higher institution.
The Deputy Chief of Staff therefore reiterated the fact that crime does not pay and that those involved in the Nibo, Nawfia and Enugwu-Ukwu senseless killings won't go unpunished.
