Ihiala Shall Be Great Again, Says Agbodike

RAYMOND OZOJI reports

The lawmaker representing Ihiala federal constituency at the National Assembly Abuja, Rt.Hon.Dr. Paschal Arinzechukwu Agbodike has expressed optimism that Ihiala shall be great again despite her security situation.

Agbodike who spoke to this journalist exclusively on Monday, stated that Ihiala will soon return to her hay days of tranquil atmosphere as stakeholders, youths and concerned citizens in the area are cross-pollinating ideas on adopting non-kinetic means to solving her security challenges.

Agbodike said as part of efforts to addressing security challenges in the constituency, he has supported Ihiala security network with 100 walkie talkies and currently donated 11 Toyota Sienna Utility Vehicles he procured from the United States of America for surveillance purposes and security patrols in Ihiala.

Agbodike who is the Secretary of the Southern Nigeria House of Representatives Caucus, member  ECOWAS parliament,  chairman  House of Representatives Committee on Hydrological Services and HYPADEC, to mention a few of his portfolios, said it was time Ihiala people took ownership of their local government area and appealed to those breaching public peace to sheathe their swords and accept the handshake being extended to them.

He also said he would work more closely with Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo to bring more democratic dividends to Ihiala  especially as he has declared his intentions to represent Anambra-south senatorial district at the Senate, if elected.

The astute politician noted that the security situation in Ihiala presently is not in the best interest of anybody but maintained that discussions are ongoing to ensure that Ihiala becomes better and safer for the people.

Agbodike who was a former Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly and two-time member of the state legislature, said all hands are on deck to ensure that the security challenges in Ihiala are resolved so that every individual will be happy and local economy will also improve.

He said no life is worth losing in Ihiala on account of security breaches and restated that non-kinetic approach would be methodically adopted in the ongoing peace missions to ensure that Ihiala bounced back and becomes great again.
