As the September 28th Anambra State Local Government Elections beckon, the President-General of Umueri General Assembly in Anambra-East Local Government Area, High Chief Amb. Dr. John Metchie has insisted that the current Transition Committee Chairman of Anambra-East Chief Ifeanyi Chinweze should continue in office as the elected local government chairman.

Metchie who gave reasons why he is endorsing the incumbent TC Chairman for another tenure as the elected council chairman while speaking exclusively with HEADLINE NEWS on Thursday, said Anambra-East is making significant progress under Chief Ifeanyi Chinweze.

Metchie explained that as TC Chairman, Ifeanyi Chinweze has proved his mettle through his transformational leadership agenda reflecting and radiating in all the nooks and crannies of Anambra-East council area.

He said the TC Chairman has prioritized security, infrastructure, education, health and other sectors, adding that his efforts are commendable. Metchie noted that insecurity will be a thing of the past in Anambra-East because the TC Chairman is resolute and unrelenting in the fight against crime and criminality in the council area.

Metchie who is also the prime minister of the Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU) observed that the efforts of the TC chairman in road maintenance is also worthy of commendations coupled with his interventions on education, medical and health and other interventions; that the TC Chairman will make a good local government chairman, if he is reelected.

The ASATU prime minister noted that from investigations, the TC chairman also committed his personal resources to the growth and development of Anambra-East Local Government Area. That as a TC Chairman, Ifeanyi Chinweze achieved more with limited resources.

Metchie said if reelected, Ifeanyi Chinweze would achieve more with access to more resources, pointing out that more attention should be given to security, agriculture education, health as well as youth empowerment as he believes that the aforementioned areas are key to sustainable development.

He said that Anambra-East would witness more positive changes, should Ifeanyi Chinweze be reelected on September 28 at the statewide local government polls.
