Hunger Protest: Awka-North TC Chairman Converts Car Park To Homestead Farm

BY Raymond Ozoji,  Awka

Following calls for collective and individual actions to address the current food crisis confronting Nigerians coupled with Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo's bold initiative in launching " Farm To Feed Campaign " in Anambra State, the transition committee chairman of Awka-North Local Government Area Hon. ThankGod Chibuike Anago says he has converted his car park into a homestead farm to guarantee stead supply of basic food crops in his family.

Anagor who spoke to HEADLINE NEWS, said Governor Soludo was right and timely in introducing the Farm To Feed campaign thereby giving every household the opportunity to cultivate at subsistence level as a veritable means to contribute their own quota to eliminating hunger and hardship in the country.

Anagor maintained that the only viable solution to acute hunger, deprivation and starvation was agriculture. That rather than take to the streets in the form of protests, Nigerian youths could do better if they channelled their youthful energy to meaningful agricultural practices for food production and for commercial purposes too.

Anagor was however of the opinion that homestead farm is good no matter how small the space, one can achieve a bumper harvest if he sets his mind to it, adding that in the next one month, he will be harvesting a lot of food crops from his farm at home.

He therefore admonished Nigerians especially youths to embrace agriculture as panacea to food insecurity, unemployment and economic hardships.
