Any Attempt By ANSIEC To Deal With Another Person As APGA Chairman In Anambra Would Amount To An Exercise In Futility-- Ejesieme
...says Edozie Njoku remains authentic national chairman
By Raymond Ozoji, Awka
Chief Ikechukwu Ejesieme has declared that he is the authentic chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra State and that any attempt by the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) to deal with any other person as state chairman of the party in the forthcoming Local Government Elections would amount to an exercise in futility.
Ejesieme who made the declarative statement during an exclusive interview with HEADLINE NEWS at the party secretariat Udoka Housing Estate Awka on Thursday, said the entire exercise would be null and void because the law recognised him as the authentic state chairman of APGA in Anambra.
Ejesieme who also alleged that he was blocked by thugs from attending an interactive session organised by ANSIEC for state party chairmen and other stakeholders, maintained that there is a plot to exclude APGA from participating in the September 28 LG Elections; if not, how can one explain that the election would be completely free and fair ?
He said that the party secretariat at Udoka Housing Estate Awka has a steady stream flow of party faithful trooping in and out to purchase forms for the LG Elections because they know where the authentic APGA is, adding that going by free and fair election, the authentic APGA is the party to beat.
He noted that there is no other APGA lawful and legal except the All Progressives Grand Alliance led by Chief Edozie Njoku whom he said is the current and legally certified national chairman.
According to him, there is no parallel sale of nomination and expression of interest forms for the LG Elections in the APGA of Anambra State as he believes too that there is no faction, no division and equally not confusing to any reasonable citizen of the state.
Ejesieme said everything about the party has been nailed and settled by the Supreme Court of Nigeria; that the apex court has given final judgement on APGA leadership tussle saying that Chief Edozie Njoku is the authentic national chairman of APGA.
That the same Supreme Court judgment declared that acertain Victor Oye should be deleted and replaced with Chief Edozie Njoku's name, stressing that APGA is one under Chief Edozie Njoku.
He therefore recalled that Edozie Njoku and others including himself were duly elected on 31st May at an Owerri convention ; that the convention was the only upheld convention that is authentic, done by APGA, known to the law and known to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He said any other person or group of persons arrogating themselves as APGA leadership whether at the national level or Anambra State level, are fake and let the public be properly guided and be vigilant as he rightly stated that there is no other APGA except the APGA the led by Chief Edozie Njoku.
According to him, all party faithful of the APGA family in Anambra State are aware of where they should come and obtain legal and lawful forms for the September 28 LG Elections. That any form not coming from them is not only unlawful, illegal but also criminal in nature.
He said ANSIEC issued a timetable and they got information regarding a stakeholders interactive session organised by the state electoral body.
Ejesieme said he went to attend the meeting as the state chairman of APGA in Anambra only for him to be barricaded by thugs from entering the meeting after being duly accredited at the venue.
He said when he inquired why he was blocked from entering the meeting, the thugs told him they were acting on instructions from the highest authority in the state that certain people were not allowed in the meeting as it was exclusively for some people.
Ejesieme maintained that most shocking was that members of ANSIEC were there as the thugs harassed him out but didn't say or do anything even as he pointed out that ANSIEC was aware that he was supposed to attend the stakeholders meeting as state chairman of APGA because the national leadership had pre-informed the commission in writing of change of leadership in Anambra State.
