ACTDA Rescues Esther Obiakor Road From Years Of Total Collapse

The popular Esther Obiakor Road in Awka GRA which has metamorphosed into death traps due to very gigantic potholes following total collapse as a result of years of neglect and abandonment, has received the attention of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo. 

Residents of the area are therefore delighted and also heaved a sigh of relief as Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo deployed the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA) to carryout repair works on the road. 

Esther Obiakor Road where professors and other highly placed individuals cried due to the deplorable condition of the road, will henceforth ease traffic congestions and navigations as government alleviates the sufferings of the people as well as ameliorate the situation. 

Speaking to HEADLINE NEWS, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA) Hon. Osita David Onuko said Esther Obiakor Road is a very important road which connects Agu-Awka, Ifite road, Oganiru Estate, Commissioners' Quarters, Nigeria Immigration Service and a host of other places within the capital city and can not be left dilapidated and neglected. 

Onuko said Esther Obiakor Road has been fixed severally but it is still in a very deplorable state. He said the road however received the governor's attention and the governor instructed ACTDA to carryout repair works on it. 

The ACTDA MD said Esther Obiakor Road leads to the Deputy Governor's House and other top government functionaries, that to ensure quality remedial actions on the road, cement stabilisation and proper asphalt would be done on it. 

Although the ACTDA MD said that there hasn't been accidents on the road due to its deplorable condition but traffic congestions have been a major problematic issue in the area, stressing that there is a total collapse of the subsoil and asphalt.

He noted that collapse of the subsoil led to the dilapidation of asphalt on the Esther Obiakor Road resulting into sections of the road becoming death traps due to menacing potholes.
