SSG Penetrates Grassroots For Soludo's Reelection

BY  Raymond Ozoji,  Awka

It is crystal clear and without equivocations that Soludo Support Group (SSG) is rigorously and vehemently penetrating communities, villages and kindreds in Anambra State preaching and spreading the gospel of good governance and democratic dividends championed by the Soludo administration.

SSG as the flagship and mother of over 30 support groups for Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has indeed proven its mettle as an organised body of individuals rooting for the return of Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo in 2025 as evidently portrayed in the recent launch of " You Need To Know Campaign" , Membership Revalidation as well as unveiling of its New Uniform with bold inscription that " Solution Is Here" in Anambra State, held at the Professor Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre Awka.

The launch of the " You Need To Know Campaign" was a clear testament that Soludo Support Group has become a force to reckon with in Anambra politics as it mobilized members from the 326 political wards of the 21 council areas of the state to attend the epoch-making event which the Deputy Governor Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, Speaker of the 8th assembly Rt.Hon.Dr.Somtochukwu Udeze, Deputy Speaker Rt.Hon.Chukwuma Okoye, Secretary to the State Government Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, State Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Chief Barr. Ifeatu Obi-Okoye, Chairman of the occasion Amb. Dr. John Metchie represented by the National president of the Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU) Chief Barr. Titus Nnabuike Akpudo and a host of other dignitaries testified that SSG is a very strong pillar of the APGA led state government.

Prior to the launch of " You Need To Know Campaign" SSG led by the Convener and National Coordinator Chief Chinedu Nwoye Glamour had taken the message of good governance to markets, churches, schools and other places in the hinterlands where the group has persistently continued to win more converts for the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). Hence the launch of the " You Need To Know Campaign" signified the climax of campaigns for the reelection of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo and for the All Progressives Grand Alliance as the Local Government Election  draws near.

The Deputy Governor Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, who was a special guest of honour at the event, charged SSG members not to relent in ensuring that the grassroot is replete with enlightenment on Soludo's transformational leadership so that those who do not know about the governor's development agenda will be abreast of such vital information to enable them to continue to support the ruling party in every election because the present state government led by Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has fulfilled his campaign promises in just two years in office.

Ibezim who said that SSG has been constant and consistent in their support for Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo since 2019 when the group was formed, noted that the present state government has constructed over 450 kilometers of roads, employed over 8000 teachers, revamped primary healthcare centres and hospitals, declared free antenatal and child delivery services, offered free education, to mention a few and currently constructing a flyover bridge at Ekwulobia to ease traffic in the area. He therefore tasked the SSG family to redouble their efforts to ensure that those at the grassroots know that Soludo didn't abdicate his campaign promises.

The Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly Rt.Hon.Dr. Somtochukwu Udeze while unveiling the new SSG uniform,  tasked the SSG family to be worthy ambassadors of the Solution Agenda at the grassroots. Udeze equally encouraged government officials to join forces with SSG in increasing awareness about the developmental strides of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo.

Secretary to the State Government Professor Solo Chukwulobelu also tasked members of the SSG to continue to penetrate the grassroots especially as the local government election is around the corner. Chukwulobelu was however of the opinion that support groups are formed to mobilize support for the party at any election and that SSG, which he described as most active and biggest support group for Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo is indeed blazing the trail in that direction.

Meanwhile Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra State High Chief Barr. Ifeatu Obi-Okoye, who opined that APGA has upgraded to the Umunna Structure, maintained that the party will continue to support SSG in all its activities and endeavors.

Chairman of the occasion and Deputy Commander-General (technical operations) of the Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service (NHFSS) Amb.Dr.John Metchie underscored the very pivotal roles support groups played in driving the policies, projects and programmes of government as being practically exemplified in what the SSG family is doing at the grassroots.

Metchie who was represented on the occasion by the National President of the Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU) Chief Barr. Titus Nnabuike Akpudo, also urged SSG members to sustain the tempo of grassroots mobilisation as they penetrate further into the nooks and crannies of the hinterlands.

Meanwhile the Convener and National Coordinator of Soludo Support Group (SSG) Chief Sir Chinedu Nwoye Glamour, said SSG is championing a campaign it tagged " You Need To Know" which according to him, is a means of creating awareness on the achievements of the governor.

Nwoye recalled that SSG has been in existence since 2019 and it donated the sum of N10 Million to Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo to procure his nomination form. He was of the opinion that the man they canvassed for has become the governor and the next thing was to tell the people that the promises he made during electioneering campaigns he has fulfilled to the latter.

Nwoye who also doubles as the State Chief Protocol Officer, Deputy Chief of Staff as well as Chairman of All Soludo Support Groups, said Soludo promised Ndi-Anambra pipe-borne water; water is currently running in the state. He said Soludo promised Ndi-Anambra quality healthcare; five general hospitals have been built in Anambra-North senatorial zone and existing ones being renovated, rehabilitated and well-equipped coupled with free antenatal and free delivery services in hospitals.

That what SSG is doing currently was to tell the people that what Soludo promised Ndi-Anambra, he has fulfilled. Glamour equally stated that SSG was currently carrying out membership revalidation and verification to ascertain members.

Another vital issue he raised was that SSG is penetrating the grassroots to create the needed structures at the polling units for purposes of electoral conquests for the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). He said SSG has gone to markets and so many other places spreading good news about good governance as depicted in the current administration. That SSG is also leveraging the 2024 Annual August Meeting to tour the communities to talk to the people about what the governor is doing in the state.

Dr. Alex Obiogbolu, the Special Adviser to Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo on Political Matters, also acknowledged the efforts of SSG in telling Ndi-Anambra what APGA stands for and what Soludo stands for. Lion Tony Ezeigwe, National Secretary Soludo Support Group (SSG) observed that indeed people came out en masse to reaffirm their support for Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo for what he has been doing in the state.

Ezeigwe noted that under the leadership of Chief Chinedu Nwoye Glamour, SSG has been repositioned and stronger for the task ahead especially as the state enters electioneering periods. While chairman of the planning committee, who is also the Transition Committee Chairman of Nnewi-South Local Government Area, Hon. Van George Ezeogidi(Ijele Utuh) thanked all who made the occasion a huge success.
