The Executive Chairman of Nnewi-South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Hon. Chief Van-George Chinedu Ezeogidi has provided solar electricity in all the primary healthcare facilities in Nnewi-South council area.
Ezeogidi who disclosed this while unveiling his three months work plan from June to August this year, said the essence of providing solar energy for the hospitals was to ensure 24 hours service delivery as well as enhance operational efficiency in the facilities, adding that such can not be achieved relying solely on the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) for power supply.
He said that his administration has commissioned the solar electrification projects at Obiofia and Odikpi primary healthcare centres Osumenyi, Ebenato PHC, Utuh PHC, Umunuko and Uboma PHCs. Others according to him include Ezinifite, Ekwulumili, Unubi, Iseke, Obiuno and Amichi primary healthcare centres respectively.
The Chairman explained that apart from electricity interventions in hospitals, his government has also ensured the security of lives and properties in Nnewi-South council area following the inauguration of Security Management and Finance Committees in the communities in line with the Anambra State Homeland Security Law coupled with the zero pothole asphalting at Amichi, Unubi and Akwaihedi communities, adding that some roads have also been graded within the council area.
He said that the council authority will flagg-off solar-powered borehole drilling project at Osumenyi; commission 30 open stores at Orie-Nwankwo market, commission rehabilitated borehole at civic center as well as commission rehabilitated borehole facilities at market square Ebenato community.
He stated also that his administration will flagg-off solar-powered borehole drilling at Utuh and other communities; flagg-off monthly business support for Nnewi-South women petty traders, embark on full furnishing and presentation of office equipment for Nnewi-South LG Secretariat Ukpor; inspect ongoing erosion control project at Utuh and also inspect ongoing renovation of Ukpor police station.
Ezeogidi informed that he would flagg-off free medical outreach programme for Nnewi-South Local Government Area; flagg-off road palliatives for Ochendo, Isekendiba Amichi and other communities and also engage Nnewi-South youths in a sports competition where the winner goes home with a N2 Million cash prize.
Ezeogidi's three months comprehensive work schedule equally revealed that his administration will flagg-off the construction of Nnewi-South Resort Centre Ukpor. All these and more life-changing projects, according to him, are to ensure that citizens of the council area get the basic amenities to make life worth living, stressing that Nnewi-South is progressing rapidly.
