Anambra PGs, Ochabrigade, Police To Ensure Crime-Free Yuletide

The Anambra State Government has issued a directive to all the communities in the state through the office of the National President of the Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU) to clampdown on all activities inimical to public safety this festive season. 


The directive therefore mandated all the community presidents-general to work with the Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra (Ochabrigade) and the Nigeria Police to enforce the directive to have a crime free atmosphere for the yuletide. 


The directive from the office of the ASATU national president Hon. Barr. Titus Nnabuike Akpudo reads, " Prohibition of Tyre Burning and other related items: The State government has strictly directed the citizens to refrain from burning tyres, fireworks, and other harmful materials on tarred roads, as this poses health, environmental, and economic risks to both the citizens and the State.


Community Vigilance: Presidents-General must ensure that their communities comply with this directives and report any incidents to the authorities.The PGs are further mandated to work closely with officers of OCHA BRIGADE and the Nigeria Police šŸš“ for the enforcement of this directive and prosecution of the  culprit(s)/ offender(s) in line with the Law*..The local vigilante groups should be on ground to do the needful.


Approved Road Modifications:  Construction of bumps and speed breakers by individuals or groups on the roads constructed by the government without necessary approval by appropriate authority is unlawful and prohibited absolutely.


 It is very important to obtain necessary approvals from the Anambra State Ministry of Works before erecting speed breakers or bumps on government-constructed roads*. The leadership of our various communities are directed to take responsibility.


Consequences of Non-Compliance: 

It is pertinent to note, that failure to comply with the above directives may result in facing the full wrath of law, with  community leadership ( PGs) held accountable for incidents occurring within their jurisdictions.


General Safety Reminders: Drive responsibly. it is advisable to avoid overloading, over speeding, and reckless driving so as to avoid unfortunate circumstances on our roads.


Avoid Night Travels: It is very important to refrain from embarking on night journeys particularly this period due to increased risk of accidents.

Stay Alert: PGs are also advised to report any strange occurrences or individuals to the authorities."
