Traders in Anambra markets have insisted that the likes of Ifeanyi Ubah, Valentine Ozoigbo and all other opposition aspirants to the 2025 Governorship Election can not be their governor except the incumbent governor Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo.
The traders maintained that irrespective of the machinations of opposition elements in the state, they must ensure that all the markets stand with Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo and make sure he returns for another term to enable him complete his 8 years in office.
The traders who paid a courtesy visit to the Special Adviser on Political Matters Dr. Alex Obiogbolu at the Government House Awka on Tuesday, said they were ready and prepared to become the governor's apostles in the markets telling people that Soludo is not only constructing roads alone but also impacting positively on the lives of Ndi-Anambra through other sectors of the economy.
Chairman of the delegation of traders who came to see the governor's aide Mr. Oliver Nwachukwu, said they are Anambra Market APGA Ambassadors and their core mandate is to spread the gospel of the ruling APGA government in all the markets.
Nwachukwu told HEADLINE NEWS that they came to the Government House to tell the governor of the dire need to install core APGA members in the Caretaker Committees of the markets to enable them to succeed in their mission to return him next year.
He therefore disclosed that currently only people from opposition political parties dominated the caretaker committees and leadership of the markets which he described as bad omen for APGA.
Nwachukwu further disclosed that the leadership of markets are dominated by Labour Party, Peoples Democratic Party, All Progressives Congress but suggested the urgent need to reverse the situation to enable APGA faithful be at the helm of affairs of market leadership in Anambra.
Also the Secretary of the Anambra Market APGA Ambassadors Mr. Emeka Ezeanyika said they want to join forces with other well-meaning Ndi-Anambra to make sure that Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo returned for a second term in office having seen his sterling performance so far.
Ezeanyika maintained that the need to return Soludo can not be overemphasized because no one knows what will happen if another person becomes the governor and subsequently waste 4 years chasing the wind.
He said they are making efforts to gather traders in the markets for Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo and also propagate the message of inclusive governance to the people as evidently portrayed in the Soludo administration.
He said they would help to spread all the good deeds of the Soludo administration to traders in the markets for them to know that the governor is not only constructing roads but also revamping the health sector, carrying out concrete human capital development programmes and projects and a host of others.
Meanwhile the Public Relations Officer of the Anambra Market APGA Ambassadors Mr. Benjamin Ikebata, stated that they have a very important fight to fight in the markets because of the level of negative propaganda against the Soludo administration.
Ikebata said they came to see the Special Adviser on Political Matters to obtain advice on how to embark on the fight against opposition elements amongst traders in the markets as he believes that the leadership of the markets are dominated by opposition political party elements.
Anagor Kenechukwu, a member of the group who does his business at Ogbo-Ogwu in Onitsha, said their major aim is to ensure that Soludo comes back for another term because he is doing tremendously well and that any impediments on their way would be removed.
Anagor said traders in the markets have resolved that it is fire for fire this time because they want Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo to return in 2025 to enable him to sustain the temp of infrastructural development in Anambra State.
Although Anagor Kenechukwu described Sen. Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah as a good man but he also pointed out that Anambra is bigger than Ubah and that he doesn't have the wisdom and capacity to handle the state even as he maintained that Anambra is APGA and APGA screens and brings out the best to administer the state democratically.
He said Ifeanyi Ubah, Val Ozoigbo and other aspirants should jettison their governorship aspirations because the traders have accepted Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo and earnestly want him back for a second term in office.
Israel Onyebuchi who is also a member of the Anambra Market APGA Ambassadors recalled that during the last governorship election in the state APC members attempted to scare them away with gunshots but they stood their grounds and insisted that ballot boxes will not be snatched away.
Onyebuchi therefore maintained that Anambra traders have settled for Soludo come 2025 and nothing can change it !
