RAYMOND OZOJI reports
As political activities approach apogee preparatory to the Anambra-South senatorial bye-election with many dramatis personae claiming to do things differently and surpass achievements of predecessors if given the people's mandate, a source who pleaded anonymity to HEADLINE NEWS has said that it is time to set the records straight because history, according to the source, never lies.
The source exclusively told HEADLINE NEWS that it is an act of sheer greed, insatiability and man's inhumanity to man for the old Nnewi political block to resurface after over 13 years of sojourn at the Red Chambers to claim that it is the turn of Nnewi zone to go to the Senate whereas a certain zone like Ihiala zone has not produced a senator since 1999 till date.
The source therefore maintained that the old Nnewi political block comprising Nnewi-North, Nnewi-South and Ekwusigo have absolutely no business with the forthcoming Anambra-South senatorial bye-election because history has it that the aforementioned local government areas have had their fair share at the upper legislature of the National Assembly.
The source however wondered why aspirants contesting against a zone like Ihiala, have not asked themselves why Orumba-North, Orumba-South and Aguata who belonged to the Old Aguata Union (OAU) are not contesting in the Anambra-South Bye-Election?
It maintained that it is of paramount importance that they provided a suitable answer to the question because the Old Aguata Union(OAU) have unanimously decided to allow a zone like Ihiala zone that has not tasted the senatorial seat to go as justice, equity and fairness demand inorder to balance the political equation in the south senatorial district.
The source further disclosed that there is no rationale for any person from Nnewi-North to contest in the bye-election because Sen. Ikechukwu Obiora from Nnewi-North has gone for 4 years while late Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah completed the 8 year tenure of Nnewi-North in his first term. That Ifeanyi Ubah's uncompleted second term at the Senate was not the turn of Nnewi-North because they had already gone for 8 years and there is nothing like completing Ubah's second term.
Again, the source noted that the aspirant from Ihembosi in Ekwusigo LGA has absolutely no business to be in the contest because his brother Sen. Nnamdi Eriobuna of same village in Ihembosi has gone to the Senate from 1999 to 2003. That there is no reason whatsoever for an Ihembosi man in Ekwusigo Local Government Area to say he wants to go to Senate because they have also tasted the senatorial seat and Ihiala has not.
According to the source, Nnewi-South belonged to the Old Nnewi Political Block and the old Nnewi political block have gone to the Senate more than 3 times. That someone from the old Nnewi political block should not think of going to the Senate this time because they have already taken over 13 years at the Red Chambers of the National Assembly.
The source said Nnamdi Eriobuna from Ekwusigo took 4 years at the Senate. Ikechukwu Obiora from Nnewi-North took another 4 years. Ifeanyi Ubah from Nnewi-North enjoyed 4 years and another 2 years at the Senate before his untimely demise. That nobody from Nnewi-South should think of contesting in the bye-election because their own political block have enjoyed over 13 years in the Senate.
