Dr. Jude Ejikeme Obidiegwu has assumed duty as the new Provost and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Cooperative College Oji River Enugu State.
Obidiegwu who had his maiden familiarisation meeting with the administrative and registry personnel at the college auditorium recently, said his ultimate goal was to make Federal Cooperative College Oji River one of the best academic institutions in Nigeria where the right and privileges of every child would be respected.
He therefore observed that the college has evolved structurally from just being a department in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to a full-fleged tertiary institution which he said demanded that the administrative personnel have to work in line with global trends of higher institutions.
The Provost who described his first interface with the administrative workforce as a wake-up call and a transition process, said he looks forward to strengthening the systems and structures where every personnel working there would pride himself or herself as an employee of Federal Cooperative College Oji River.
He said there is a dire need to pride the Federal Cooperative College Oji River as one of the best in the country in terms of cooperative training which implied a shift in status quo, setting priorities as well as everyone aligning with the vision of writing a history for posterity.
He said he has also had a meeting with the management team and all have keyed into the vision of taking Federal Cooperative College Oji River to greater heights.
He however charged the administrative staff to believe they can add value to the system; dedicate themselves to duty and always think of what they can do differently to grow the college.
Obidiegwu equally disclosed to HEADLINE NEWS that strategic methodologies have been propounded for student drive via grassroots and community interactions, aggressive marketing of the college in the mass media and a host of other strategic plans; noting that students of the Federal Cooperative College Oji River must be respected as he believes they are the ambassadors that would bring more students to the college.
He said he has given his words that every child schooling at the Federal Cooperative College Oji River is his responsibility and as long as he is the Provost, no son or daughter of any Nigerian would be abused, violated or his or her rights trampled upon.
He said, " I stand as the Provost to respect and protect the rights of every Nigerian student especially students of Federal Cooperative College Oji River. "
